We’re now just two weeks away from our reception honoring G.W. Carlson, professor of history and political science, who is retiring after serving on Bethel’s faculty since 1968. That May 23 reception is open to all (including students and alumni), will be held in the Bethel University Library, and should run from 4:30-6:00pm.
As part of that reception, we’ll have a brief program at 5pm, featuring a Gehrz/Mulberry-produced film on the life and legacy of GW, some words from colleagues, and the presentations of gifts — including an oversized novelty check made out to his parents’ scholarship fund.
We’re still collecting donations for that fund, which supports a set of scholarships awarded annually to Bethel history and political science students who have financial need and demonstrate academic excellence. Your gift will help us continue to keep the awards at the intended level.
If you would like to contribute to this worthy fund, there’s still time to donate online. (On the “Designation” drop down menu, choose “Other.” In the next field, type “Bert & Bernice Carlson Scholarship.”)
