Founded in 1967, the Conference on Faith and History (CFH) will be holding its biennial meeting at Gordon College this weekend. One of the academy’s most active Christian professional societies, CFH exists “to encourage excellence in the theory and practice of history from the perspective of historic Christianity,” through conferences like the one this weekend, the publication of the journal Fides et Historia, a blog for graduate students, and other initiatives.

At the 2012 meeting, Bethel will be well-represented. Prof. Chris Gehrz will be presenting a paper on Pietism at Bethel since it became a four-year school in 1947 (here’s a preview from his blog), and History/Social Studies Ed alum Ben Wright (’05, now at Rice University) will give a paper on “Conversion, Benevolence, and Nationalism in the American Denominational Imagination.”
