Festival of Christmas, Past and Present

The Weekend Reading staff is still recovering from the effects of Bethel’s annual smorgasbord dinner, so we’re going to take a week off from our Saturday links post and instead join the rest of campus in celebrating Festival of Christmas. As usual, History and Social Studies Education majors are well-represented among the hundreds of Bethel students taking part in Festival: singing in multiple choirs; playing violin, viola, trombone, and handbells (among other instruments); reading Scripture in Swedish; and helping to serve food and to clean up once everything’s done.

Festival is an old tradition at Bethel, dating back to before the move from Snelling Ave. to the Arden Hills campus. Here, courtesy of Bethel’s excellent and growing Digital Library, are some images from Festivals past:
