Current students (and recent graduates) interested in a Spring 2014 internship with the Minnesota Historical Society have until Sunday, November 3rd to complete their applications:
Students interested in gaining professional experience in a public museum environment have a unique opportunity to work directly with museum professionals and participate in structured opportunities to learn more about the Society’s work through the cohort activities. Students will be able to engage with interns from across the institution and develop a network of students and museum professionals. Most internships at the Society are unpaid.
Fourteen positions are open, ranging from web design and IT to marketing and PR to positions that focus on History Day and special projects. One position assists with the Interns program itself — here’s our recent graduate Anj Thunberg (’13) talking about that role — and two focus on Hmong collections and Asian Pacific Heritage Day. Graduates with an MLIS are eligible for a reference librarian internship.
Here’s more on how to apply. If you would like to receive academic credit for your experience, make sure to arrange for a professor in our department to oversee the experience and check on the MHS policy on for-credit internships.
